Despite the media narratives, President Obama's gay marriage support message is more popular among blacks and Hispanics than it is among whites. Interesting to see how racism sparks homophobia. ›
boy am I tired of this shit that “black people are more oppose to same sex marriage cause u know”. well fuck you. tired of this bullshit fauxgress and this bullshit polite racism
The only time I will care about gay marriage is for reasons like this. It’s worth noting that “Hispanics” surveyed still mostly oppose gay marriage, but their numbers were higher than white people.
Of course, CIS White men HAVE white privilege. their beliefs will not be altered for anyone. A religious black or latino person may not agree with gay marriage, and not even like gay people, but I doubt someone in the mission or HP REALLY GIVES A FUCK about what the fags are up to in castro….they have more important things to worry about…and besides they know that they aren’t the be all end all regarding the world…
The best campaign counter-attack video I HAVE EVER SEEN. Obama 2012
”So we’re going to call their BS when we see it and we need your help to call them on it too and set the record straight. So share this, tweet it, facebook it, I keep hearing about tumblr and whatever that is…please use that too. Thank you.”
-Stephanie Cutter / Deputy Campaign Manager at Obama for America.
She got spunk. I like her. “I keep hearing about tumblr and whatever that is” lol.
yes man, its called hegemony. the obama campaign appears to be the first democratic camp that is countering the republicans in creating a centerist hegemony (they are not a leftist party) to counter the repubs far right hegemonic influences.
American Apparel Ad Uses ‘California Farmer’ As Accessory in Ad - COLORLINES ›
“Still something feels off with the ad. Maybe it would of been better if they had taken both subjects in to the studio and shot them behind a plain backdrop like American Apparel does with most ads and included a caption about agricultural workers and how they’re paid so little that chances are they can’t even afford a plain $18 American Apparel t-shirt.”
It just looks so uncomfortable for both of them.
no they did not use him as a prop for a white bitch to hold onto. they. did. not.
i want ANY white feminist to come tell me white women know anything of men of colors oppression UNDER them. i wanna hear all about that shit.
fucking assholes.
white feminists, you’re up.
this is pretty awful
but…what does this have to do with feminism
You mean with WHITE feminism? Because White feminists stay telling folks that they are more oppressed than ALL men including men of color and demanding solidarity from women of color as they continually advocate only for themselves and their materially privileged, cis, White, able-bodied sistren while throwing the rest of us all the way under the bus.
oh, ok, i just didn’t see that happening on this picture so i was confused
*blink*
*blink*
*blink*
So unless, it’s happening in a picture, right then, right in front of you there is no outside much less SOCIETAL context for you to take into account? Or is that only when it makes White women look bad?
Yanno what? Forget it. My can shipment sank to the bottom of the ocean so all I got are can’ts for you.
woooooow…how sad…..pobresito Raul…just a prop…..
Someone really asked what this has to do with feminism!?!?
Look at the photo:
The white model is smirking in one photo, has her body at an angle, and her arms are around one of his arms.
Raul is looking directly at the camera, his arms literally are pulling away from hers, and his facial expression does not look like he is enjoying himself.American Apparel has a long history of sexualizing and exploiting their white models, according to many folks, and have been called out on it by a lot of people (especially white feminist). So, it’s save to say that people keep an eye on what type of marketing techniques AA uses. Yet, this photo is almost a year old and no one even said anything until a brown man tweeted it. Where are people speaking out about the humanity and autonomy lacking in this image?
This has everything to do with (white) feminism because white feminist will have you believe that it is the white women who is powerless in this image because she standing next to a man. While completely ignoring that the brown mans body language and entire being read as not having the capacity to have a choice. She is the one that’s reaching out and invading his personal space, she is the one with the liberty to relax.
This has everything to do with feminism because his brown body is being used as a commodity, she looks to be wearing him as a purse, while ignoring that he is a human being who has the right to dictate what is an isn’t okay to him. This has to do with feminism because white women want everyone to believe they don’t have the capacity to oppress anyone, while this image is proof of the ways that white women still have the capacity to oppress with their presence and the forcefulness of their existence.
Oh shut the fuck up….they are both being used as a commodity to sell clothes. Who cares about what happens in advertisements they aren’t true expression anyone, they are highly contrived messages from capitalists looking to sell you junk you don’t need and would be better off not buying anyway. No ad contains a soul, they will use whatever works in raising their awareness/selling more junk. you by reblogging this and turning this into an issue (yet failing to see the true problem) are only working to further the aim of this ad.
oh and by the way you don’t know how much he was paid, so don’t pretend like you do.

Looks like Community has a slightly worse chance than Parks and Rec.
AS A POC IM OFFENDED THAT YOU WATCH NBC THURSDAY NITE. ITS A HOTBED OF WHITENESS AND REINFORNCES RACIAL NOTIONS THAT I DO NOT BELIEVE IN. YOU ARE A FRAUD.
One of our May Day Queer Block banners! <3
THIS MAKES ME REALLY UNCOMFORTABLE
NO
jesus christ
not every ~slogan of liberation~ is for all queer people
sometimes you actually need to think
how in the HELL does one get this far into activist circles/life and not think “gee, rhetoric about no bodies being illegal is already really heavily associated with immigrant movements, maybe we shouldn’t put it on our fucking ENDA banner or something”
HOW
HOW
(and, for a comparatively minor nitpick, for the love of fuck not every sexual proclivity/orientation is discriminated against in employment practices in a homophobic, transphobic society.)
p.s. gj making the one identity that experiences no systemic oppression of any kind bigger than all the others, you are truly revolutionary
this this this
White people appropriating on a day that has absolutely nothing to do with them. How revolutionary.
No offense, but youre wrong! May Day was started in the 19th century by polish and irish immigrants in CHICAGO!!!!! WHITE PRIVLEDGE DONT APPLY HERE, IF ANYTHING THE POLS AND THE IRISH ARE BEING OPPRESSED BY THE MEXIS!!!!

It’s so weird that none of these out and out mention racism, ableism, or anything else… Like I kinda get it with “anti-capitalism” and “anti-gentrification” but like, oo really doesn’t get that the white people in the movement are part of the problem…. Like, you are part of the gentrification!
you are such a simple person, its kind of cute how innocent you are.
Can someone break this down for me? Cause I’ve read it like 3 times and it’s is not making any sense. Idgi
Pretty easy concept, but the author made it way more confusing than it had to be.
Texans are fat and annoying, i wish they’d secede already and take perry/bush with them
Queers and Shaved Ice Supremacy
Like duh they’re linked but I’m thinking more and more about it and it just irks me to the point where I don’t feel like calling myself queer anymore. In the same way I stop calling myself a feminist, Hispanic (this was the earliest thing I dropped in my teens), smart, etc.
Like how I relate to other queers is important but I’m also seeing the ways that I can’t and that pocs don’t have the same liberties as shaved ice queers. Shaved Ice supremacy manifests itself in the queer communities in so many ways:
-shaving back is a privilege
-access to community shaving spaces
-shaving machines are not a given for poc
-expression of any kind (be it art, gender, or just mixing the syrup colors)
-access to the ice shaving machine industrial complex
-shaved ice addict support
-educational access: learning the trade of shaving ice
-queer culture being commodified by everyone/ especially shaved icers. See: adding condensed milk
One of the biggest parts of being queer for me is being political and even that is I can’t fully “grasp” either. Because marking my body and myself as political or opening up myself to be vulnerable to attack puts me at risk a lot differently. I find myself being able to relate tote label less and less.
Idk maybe I’ll think of something different or choose to be without a lable or poc queers should think of another term. Even reclaiming the term queer is rooted in privilege. When an elder poc trans women said she hates the term queer because it was thrown at her as she walked down the street and carries all bad connotations, that she doesn’t understand how young people could embrace it and urging us not to use it. It shook me to my core and made me uncomfortable because I think deep down inside I know she is right.
Like if being queer was really about what it’s definition is, none of the above would be an issue. In a ways, queers don’t really exist/ people shouldnt be able to claim that label unless they are really actively and consciously are trying to fuck up shaved iced supremacy. I don’t see the community really doing that.
So here’s an ask: do you know of any writing by POC that touches on any of this?
you are a phony/fraud
yea….fuck the colonization of native lands…fuck the western structure…fuck this fuck that..
oh hai coachella, o hai super expensive VIP, o hai capitalist entertainment mega-event that supports and sustains the system that colonized this precious land in the first fucking place. o hai white bands that i listen to on my ipod (designed on colonized lands and built by the migrant work of yellow slaves), ethnic music what? self resepct what? no let me just bitch about ‘white ppl’ and not the real root of the problem. why? b/c i like the system im in, i just am at the bottom of it and am really using all this to lash out at those who are ‘economically above me’
phony fake fraud
